Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS ON ADA TEPE HILL (Georgi Nehrizov – nehrizov@gmail.com) Three sectors with similar stratigraphy on the southwestern slope of Ada Tepe Hill were explored through sondages. The cultural stratum was 55 cm in thickness and consisted of two layers. The finds included burned lath-and-plaster, sherds, fragmentary millstones, spindle whorls, small ceramic vessels, a stamp for decoration of ceramic vessels, etc. Sherds of the Early Iron Age (11th – 6th centuries BC) prevailed, but in addition there were a number of sherds of the Late Bronze Age (16th – 11th centuries BC) and single sherds of the Late Iron Age (5th – 1st centuries BC). The deposition of the archaeological material happened during the end of the 2nd and the first half of the 1st millennia BC. The archaeological material originated from the cultural strata of the sanctuary situated on the top of Ada Tepe and the objects gradually slid down the hill. This was confirmed by the absence of archaeological structures and the fact that the materials in the cultural stratum were chronologically mixed.
