Summary (English)
This campaign led to a greater understanding of the extension of the remains and of the plan of the ecclesiastical buildings identified in the area, whose historical-chronological development was defined in more detail. The excavation of Roman foundation structures suggested that the single Republican phase identified between 1979-1981 was, in fact, several overlaying phases.
After the final late imperial building, a series of cult buildings were documented in several construction phases between the 7th-8th century and the 16th century. The excavations also provided further knowledge of the cemetery areas, in particular for the period between the 12th and 15th century, from which the remains of over one hundred individuals were removed for study. The excavation of a series of pre-Renaissance burials produced interesting grave goods, including rosary beads.
