Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF SEDLARI (Katya Melamed – katjamelamed@yahoo.com) Twelve pits were discovered. They contained charcoal, sherds, animal bones and an iron object. Thus the total number of the pits discovered so far is more than 50. Similar mediaeval ritual practice is not attested in other archaeological sites. Judging from the pottery, the pits dated to the 11th – 12th centuries. Two houses of the 11th – 12th centuries were documented. They were built in dry stone masonry. Four houses, constructed from wattle-and-daub, were discovered. The houses were burned. Judging from the pottery, they dated to the 4th – 5th centuries AD. A coin of Maroneia dated to the 2nd century BC deserved attention among the finds from the excavations.
