This catacomb complex was uncovered during development driven activity. The small plot of land in question is found at the back of an alleyway with old origins.

Unsurprisingly, excavations also uncovered several sets of cart-ruts. This might be interpreted as an eventual disuse of road systems on the Mdina plateau with re-use for domestic settlement encroachment.

However, in the Classical period the abandonment of this route is represented through the physical excavation of two shafts into the road alignment. Through careful excavations it has been noted that through continuous use that extended from the 2nd century AD to the 7th century AD respectful backfilling was carried out to block entrance from the first shaft.

This site yielded a large amount of human remains which are currently being analyzed and cataloged. The report is also in progress.
