Summary (English)
The 2003 archaeological researches at Solca – Slatina Mare revealed a rather consistent level formed as a result of the production of crystallized salt from the neighbouring salty spring in the Cucuteni period. This level contains sherds of Cucuteni B type and a great amount of Cucuteni C pottery. Also, in the same level we identified a lot of sherds of the briquetages-type. Its closest analogies can be found in the B zone at Lunca – Poiana Slatinei. The Cucuteni B layer is the only evidence of the prehistorical exploitation of this salt spring. The next level documented here dates to the Late Middle Ages (17th – 18th centuries), when a wood structure for holding the terrace was built. On the small plateau where the salt fountain is situated we uncovered a part of a modern pavement, which overlapped and partially protected the prehistorical deposit.
