The preventive archaeological research, performed at “Saint Nicolae – Banu” Church, Nicoreşti commune, Galaţi district, has revealed the annexed constructions and a cellar which served for the old monastery, which had functioned until the middle of the 20th century, as well as some rubbish holes. A fact of great importance is the discovery of a funerary complex which dates back to the Bronze Age, as well as some ceramic fragments from the same period. This fact confirms the presence of people living in this area even from prehistory and adds a new archaeological point on Galaţi district map.
