The archaeological site is located in the northern part of Silvaşu de Jos locality. The tumuli are located on a watershed. The 2006 campaign was dedicated to the digging of the first tumulus, T1. The dimensions of the tumuli are 19.30 × 17.15 m. Contrary to the appearances, the Silvaşu de Jos Dealul Ţapului site is not a necropolis. The observations made until now lead us to the conclusion that the site represents a pastoral settlement, maybe a temporary one, belonging to the Coţofeni culture, phase III.
