Summary (English)
The archaeological research conducted at Turnu Citadel had started in 1936 and it was continued between 1978 and 1980 (by Gheorghe Cantacuzino), after a long delay. An aerial photograph taken in the year 2000 revealed not only a pentagon-shaped walled city (constructed by the Turks during the 15th? – 16th centuries) but also the outline of the civilian settlement in Turnu, before 1836. Our research aims at showing the relationships between the two fortifications (the walled city and the civilian area) as well as the link between these ones and the greater area of Turnu settlement before the year 1836.
