The research and finds made in the ager Allifanus mainly regarded the zone north-west of Allifae, along the route of the branch of the via Latina which linked Venufrum to Beneventum passing through Allifae itself (a route which was partially retraced by the Bourbon road and the present state road 158).

In the locality of Torrione at Alife, a short excavation campaign was undertaken on the Iannelli property where previous research had produced interesting results. This investigation led to the discovery of two new burials, without grave goods (thus far a total of twenty tombs have been identified in the small necropolis situated at the foot of the imposing mausoleum).

During the excavation the masonry structures belonging to the enclosures adjacent to the funerary monument were completely exposed. Furthermore, the nature of the cut in the limestone bedrock, on which the mausoleum stands and in which the tombs were cut, was defined. The cut had previously been noted on the western edge of the excavation and probably relates to the route of the above mentioned branch of the via Latina.
