Summary (English)
Along the north side of the SS Sannitica 158 road, in the municipality of Raviscanina, locality of Quattro Venti-Ceraso, the substantial remains of a Roman mausoleum have always been visible on the Pezzullo property.
After recent cleaning and uncovering of the monument a first examination of its architectural elements was undertaken. What survived was the quadrangular base circa 11 × 12 m) and part of the imposing upper structure, with nucleus in opus caementicium comprised of large limestone chippings and cobbles bonded with mortar. In its interior, presumably in the late antique period or later, a small vaulted niche had been created. The external facing had not survived and some limestone blocks and slabs reused in the construction of nearby farmhouses may have been part of it. The structure’s characteristics date it to between the end of the Republican and early Imperial period.
