In late March 2006, a geophysical survey was undertaken by a joint team from the Archaeological Prospection Services of Southampton (APSS) and the British School at Rome, at the Arivito site, Mondragone, Campania.

The natural geology of this site, combined with the often ephemeral nature of the archaeology, has presented some problems for the magnetometer survey, and the subsequent interpretation of the results. Despite this, however, there is clearly evidence of sub-surface archaeology on the site, though its exact form remains unclear on the whole. It seems that there is a complex of enclosures and structures, in both areas. Whether these are all contemporary is unclear, but the range of pottery found on the site suggests that this area was used over a long time span, and this could be reflected in the results.
Without prior knowledge of the type of archaeology at this site (e.g. types of building material) it is difficult to be able to give features a precise identification, and therefore a number of options which could be viable have been offered for different features, based on their magnetic readings and relationships to other features.
Both areas of survey enhance current knowledge of this site, and provide a framework for future work, albeit survey or excavation.
