Summary (English)
With the exception of a small extension to the excavation in the southern part of the bath building, this season was dedicated to the project to roof the central area of the baths of Tifernum Mataurense, and open the area to the public.
Construction of the roof to protect the mosaics provided the occasion for four small (80 × 80 cm) trenches to be dug, A (to the SW), B (to the NW), C (to the NE), and D (to the SE).
In trenches A and B natural was reached at 225 cm below ground level, above which was a sequence of occupation layers dating from the ancient to modern phases. In trenches C and D, the nature of the archaeological remains impeded the continuation of the excavation. All trenches produced interesting data for the phases of the baths and surrounding area showing that the earliest phase dated to the mid to late Republican period.Work continued throughout the year on the cleaning, restoration and conservation, in situ of the mosaic showing the marine procession.
