Summary (English)
Work continued in the south-eastern corner of the bath building, including an extension along the south front of circa 10 × 8 m. The excavation, to be completed, reached a maximum death of 100 cm below ground level. The outlines of two parallel tanks were identified, the walls in opus vittatum mixtum with an internal facing of a thick layer of opus signinum. The fill, unexcavated, comprised various types of stone material. Work also continued on the excavation of the well inside the heated room, going down to a depth of 530 cm below the floor of the room, at which depth the water table was intercepted, causing excavation to halt. The very mixed fill comprised earth, sandstone blocks and small and large cobblestones. The ancient material present included lumps of opus signinum, fragments of tegulae, imbrices, brick, tiles from the suspensurae, mosaic tesserae, which had slipped down from the hypocaust above. Modern material was also present (pottery, metal, plastic, brick and bone). The structural and archaeological data suggests the well was a medieval or modern construction.
Work to consolidate the walls continued together with interventions to protect the edges of the two main sections of mosaic floor preserved in situ, prior to their conservation and consolidation.
