    Summary (English)

    • EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF ORLOVETS (Stefan Chohadzhiev – s_choha@abv.bg, Petar Leshtakov, Alexander Chohadzhiev) An area of 51 sq. m was explored. Three Early Chalcolithic (first half of the 5th millennium BC) settlements existed on the site and there are traces of occupation during the Middle Ages (13th century). The mediaeval pits contained ceramic vessels, metal tools and animal bones. House No. 2 of the 1st Chalcolithic occupation stratum was almost entirely explored. Its approximate size is 6.60 m by 7.50 m. The house is oriented east – west. Its walls were constructed of posts pounded in ditches. Stone slabs were used for constructing the foundation of the oven and a small ceramic vessel was placed within its wall. The walls of the house were colored in red and there is a white paint over it. Bones of wild (wild pig, deer, badger, wild horse) and domestic animals (ox, sheep, goat) were discovered. The finds include 159 items. The tools were made of flint, stone, bone and horn. The flint collection includes 66 finds (plates, chips, typological tools, etc.). Biconical and cylindrical-conical shapes are typical of the pottery. The pottery decoration is painted and in relief. The graphite ornaments, Barbotino and the cannelures are the most typical decoration. “Models of small legs”, anthropomorphic figurines, a presumable model of grain, etc. were found.
