This year, work undertaken by Padova University’s Department of Cultural Heritage at the site of Fondo Paviani was again characterised by the acquisition of new geophysical data with the aim of making a preliminary identification of the limits of the known Bronze Age defended site using non- invasive methods.

A campaign of DEM measurements was undertaken using a series of multi-coil probes, which provided detailed information about the distribution of electrical conductibility below ground at the presumed north-western limit of the site, where satellite images showed the presence of possible palaeo-channels. In addition to these measurements, which will make it possible to make a 3D reconstruction of the volume of subsoil investigated to a depth of three metres below present ground level, an electric resistivity tomography was made of the same area out using a new method of joint data processing. This will improve the binding of the information deriving from this type of indirect measurement. It is hoped that in 2017 the positive results of these investigations will allow the application of this methodology across the entire site in order to check its actual size and state of preservation of its borders below ground.
