ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF ROSEN (Daniela Katincharova – dkatincharova@abv.bg) The rescue excavations aimed at the exploration of two dolia discovered during clandestine digs and at clarifying their archaeological context. A foundation of wall consisting of one course of stones with a bonding medium of mud was discovered. Tiles were found on the wall and close to it lying on a tiny cultural layer. Both dolia were situated close to each other to the north and northeast of the wall. They were placed in a ditch with the shape of a truncated cone pointed down, which was dug into the continental terrain. The explorations showed that both dolia were placed under the floor of a farming room of the 2nd – 4th centuries AD. Some accidental finds, previously discovered on the site, allow us to assume that the room was part of a Roman villa.
