Summary (English)
Research in 2006 concentrated on the two areas south of the excavation undertaken by N. Lamboglia between 1959 and 1963, in particular the south-eastern sector, near the embankment and the western sector. In this zone the removal of the 16th and 17th century occupation levels revealed a layer made up of stone and brick material (some Roman) which can be attributed to a construction phase of the cult building, however this cannot be precisely dated at present. Inside the structure two inhumation burials were excavated, one of an adult, the other of a child aged circa 4-6 years. These finds confirm, as regards the cemetery area, the prevalence of burials in earthen graves, as documented by the 2005 excavations. (MiBAC)
