Summary (English)

  • During the period of 30.06 to 05.07.2010. the conservation archaeological researches were carried out in the locality of Grudice, in Rogami settlement, in Podgorica.
During the agriculture works, the massive stone block has been discovered by the owners of those agriculture fields, who lifted it up and they found out that it was about the tomb.
The research probe by dimension 3 × 3 m. was measured, with the purpose to cover the whole dimension of the tomb construction. The tomb was formed of processed stone in the shape of half poles with different length, but aproximately of the same diameter. The construction was plastered in the connections between stone half poles, from the inner side. The tomb construction was in the direction North-East to South-West, with the construction dimensions 260 × 160 × 100 cm. With the role of cover plates, there were also half poles, i.e. three half poles tied with the plaster to the walls of the tomb. The floor of the tomb was covered with six tegolas, by dimensions 60 × 40 cm.
The remains of three deceased have been discovered. The skeleton remains belong to the oldest funeral (skeleton I) which were found and put into the North-west corner of the tomb chamber.
Skeleton II is pretty damaged, it was on its back, in streched position. It lied in the direction North-West to South-East.It had been given glass vessel posthumously from which the fragments were found. The tool for fine stone processing was found beside this deceased, and fragments of glass balsamarium.
Skeleton III was put on it’s back, in the direction of South-East to North-West. It was probably the last funeral in the family. The bottle of ball shaped recipient was beside the skeleton, and a cup/glass made of green glass.
Two more skeleton tombs were discovered beside the tomb from the Northern and Southern sides, oriented to direction of South – East to North-West . The Tomb I was partially marked with the crashed stone, and funeral was carried out after constructing the tomb. In the Tomb II, the deceased was burrried in a wodden coffin, and two metal bolts were there to testify about that.
With the preliminary analyses of the mobile inventory, it can be concluded that it is about specific tomb construction, with the unique shape in the necropolis of the ancient Doclea. It is about the family tomb where three funerals were carried out. The adds found were chronologically sensitive, but they are very often in Roman necropolis, so it can be concluded that those funerals were carried out in the end of 3rd and the beginning of the 4th Century.
