Summary (English)

  • The pre-nuragic village of Serra Linta was discovered at the beginning of the 1990s. It comprises numerous dwellings and its highest part is situated on a flat hilltop; numerous traces of unidentifiable walled structures and evidence of obsidian working were visible above ground.
The hill seems to coincide with the northern boundary of the settlement. The remains of the settlement can be seen at surface level to the west, south and east, together with scatters of lithic material.

There are ten well preserved structures, all built with medium sized stone blocks, on the basis of a module formed by two adjacent rooms, one rectangular and one semicircular. The numerous lithic finds can be classified as belonging to the Ozieri culture.

This site is important not only for the quantity of finds but also for the identification of a construction model known only through its reproduction within the “domus de janas” and not attested, until now, in the archaeological reality of Sardinia. It is the only example in Europe. (MiBAC)
