The main objective of the excavations during 2014 in the extra-mural basilica in Elbasan was the excavation of grave 2 located under the floor, in the part of the southern annex of the narthex. The tomb was built with a brick vault, and its entrance, located to the east, was closed with a sandstone slab. The grave measured 2.23m x 1m and the height of the masonry was about 0.97m. River pebbles bound with mortar were used for the construction of the tomb, while the semicircular vault was built with bricks. Mortar was used for the floor. At the end of the excavation of this grave, the presence of three skeletons was discovered, not very well preserved.
Only the lower limbs seem to have been preserved in their original position, while in the southeastern corner the presence of a space can be distinguished which may have been used by the person who buried the individuals. However, it remains unclear whether the three individuals were placed at the same time or at different times. As for the dating, in the absence of archaeological material it is impossible to say in what period this tomb could have been built.
