    Summary (English)

    • ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF OVCHARTSI (Plamen Karailiev – umbo@abv.bg, Reni Petrova) Houses Nos. 2, 9 and 10 and Farm Building No. 2 were thoroughly explored and Farm Building No. 3 was partly excavated to the west of Farm Building No. 1. The buildings were sunken-floored and their floors were of trampled earth. The houses accommodated ovens and from one to four pits dug out in the floors. Nine pits were documented outside the houses. Farm Building No. 2 was 25.60 m by 5.20 m in size. Postholes, 30 cm in diameter and 50 cm in depth, were documented. The foundations of the walls were dug out at the same depth. Farm Building No. 3 was 37.60 m in length. The foundations of its walls were dug out at 20 – 30 cm in depth. The finds from the excavations included pottery (pots, jugs, pitchers, dishes and lids), including pottery with aureate slip and sgraffito pottery, terracotta spindle whorls, small iron knives, nails, clamps, arrowheads and fragments from glass bracelets. Judging from the pottery and the coins, the settlement dated to the 12th century.
