MALKOTO KALE FORTRESS (Stefan Bakardzhiev – st_bakarjiev@abv.bg, Yavor Rusev) The explorations continued in the central part of the fortress interior. The floor of the yard was plastered with mortar. The finds included fragments from building ceramics, sherds from pots, dishes, bowls, plates and jugs of the 11th – 12th centuries, some of them sgraffito or with aureate slip, a spur of the 11th – 12th century, four arrowheads of the 9th – 12th centuries, a handle protector of a dagger and a coin of Constantine X Doukas. The fortress was destroyed by the army of the Third Crusade.
