ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXCAVATIONS IN STARA ZAGORA (Petar Kalchev – kalchevp@abv.bg) The site covered an area of 440 sq. m and was situated to the west of the fortification wall of Augusta Traiana. Parts of two demolished and burned houses of the 18th – 19th century were discovered. Their foundations were constructed in rubble masonry, while their walls were built with sun-dried bricks. The roofs were covered with roof-tiles. Sherds of the 18th – 19th century, ceramic tobacco pipes and porcelain cups for coffee were found in the debris of the houses.
