Summary (English)

  • ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR SUVOROVO (Vladimir Slavchev – vladosl@yahoo.com) Debris over the floor level was explored in the northern room of Building 11-1. A pottery kiln was documented close to the eastern wall. In the southwestern room, debris was explored spread over the floor paved with large stone slabs. The fragments from the burned wattle-and-daub were up to 10 cm thick and originated from the eastern, western and southern walls of the room. The eastern wall was preserved up to 65 cm in height and the western wall was preserved up to 75 cm in height. The southern wall was built of large stone slabs (at least three courses) with wattle-and-daub structure above them. The pieces of the burned collapsed wattle-and-daub structure buried a row of ceramic vessels which stood on wooden shelves along the wall. The northern wall was built of sun-dried bricks. During the excavations, 11 flint artifacts were found (a scraper, a retouched flake, small plates and flakes). The archaeobotanical analysis showed the presence of carbonized einkorn, emmer, barley, pea, vetch and wild pea. The animal bones were from oxen, sheep, pigs, boars, red deer, deer and rabbits.
