Summary (English)
PHILIPPOPOLIS (Zheni Tankova – RAM.Plovdiv@gmail.com) A wall of a room was discovered to the east of the western necropolis of Philippopolis. The wall was 70 cm wide, built of roughly cut stones bonded with mortar and discovered at 11 m in length. Two construction periods were documented. Two floor levels plastered with mortar of the second construction period were discovered. The first construction period dated to the 3rd century AD and the second one dated to the 3rd – 5th centuries AD. An ellipsoid pit, 1.70 m by 0.90 m in size and 50 cm in depth, was discovered. It was dug out into the floor of the room and its walls were covered with plaster of sand and mortar. An animal, most probably a horse, was buried in the pit. The back legs of the horse were held together with two iron rings connected with an iron stick. The animal burial was carried out when the building was already not functional.
