Summary (English)

  • DISCODURATERAE (Ilian Boyanov – ilianboyanov@nbu.bg) Building 7 was situated at 15 m to the east of Building 6 and probably covered an area of over 50 sq. m. Its walls were 50 – 60 cm wide, built of clayed and mortared rubble. The floor was of trampled clay. Fragmentary wattle-and-daub from the walls of the building and fragments from tegulae and imbrices from the roof were discovered. The finds included fibulae, a bronze bracelet and coins of the end of the 4th – beginning of the 5th centuries AD. Pieces of iron slag, a mill-bar and iron tools were found as well, indicating metallurgical production. The building belonged to the fourth construction period of Discoduraterae. The remains of Building 8 were discovered under Building 7. Its walls were 30 cm wide built of clayed rubble. Coins of the 4th century AD were found, indicating that the building was constructed during the third construction period of Discoduraterae.
