Summary (English)

  • The re-structuring of this building lead to the discovery of two latrines within the small courtyard separating the houses in via Portici and via Streiter. One of these structures had a circular section, the other oval. In the first case, the fill was made up of accumulations of recent material which document the latrine’s use until the last century. It had been periodically cleaned out and the solid material removed. In the second case, the structure was a cess-pit which had been abandoned as early as the 16th century. It was 2.80m deep and contained a deposit circa 1.20m thick. This contained a large number of pottery and glass vessels, some of which were intact. The finds is composed of objects of every-day use and fine wares imported mainly from the Paduan area. This pit has been left open for public viewing.
