Summary (English)
During work to enlarge the nursery school at Velturno, traces of an Iron age dwelling came to light in a section, at a depth of 30-40cm below ground level. The archaeological deposit was composed of the collapse of the foundation walls which overlay an occupation level rich in charcoal and containing large fragments of pottery 20-30cm wide. This layer covered sterile gravel. The layer US3 extended, from the angle formed by the two walls, along the south wall for 7m, where it rested on a dry-stone wall (US 5). Beyond this wall the terrain changed, becoming lighter in colour (US 6, external occupation level?). US 3 was traced along the west wall for c.4m. The excavation did not go any further for safety reasons.
