The international project Signum Vortumni foresees a four year plan of archaeological investigations (stratigraphic, topographic, architectural and archival) aimed at the reconstruction of settlement dynamics on the north-western slopes of the Palatine between the Regia and the early medieval period. The first excavation campaign explored the area occupied by the horrea Agrippiana. Several sondages were opened with the aim of reaching stratigraphy in primary deposition that could clarify the construction interventions in the area relating to the period preceding the building of the large Augustan granaries, and the long phases of the life of the building itself. The sondages brought to light the remains of previously unknown middle and late Republican structures that are of great interest for the history of this section of the hill slopes.
