Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR SEVLIEVO (Deyan Rabovyanov – rabovyanov@gmail.com, Rosen Iosifov) Eleven sondages were carried out in a settlement of the 13th – 14th centuries, covering an area of c. 6.5 ha and located at 5 km from the Hotalich Fortress. The finds comprised sherds from pots, cups, jugs and pitchers, two coins, two fragments from glass bracelets and animal bones. A sunken-floored house, 2.70 m by 4.50 m in size, was explored in Sondage No. 10. Its walls were probably constructed of wattle-and-daub. Three storage pits and a hearth were discovered in the house. A fragmentary pot was found. Once the house was abandoned, a Christian burial was performed and the grave was dug out over the northern side of the building. The deceased was a child, 1 year and 8 months – 2 years old. The grave goods comprised two bronze earrings. Single Thracian sherds of the Late Iron Age were found in the eastern part of the site.
