    Summary (English)

    • ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF BRODILOVO (Deyan Dichev – dejan.dichev@abv.bg) The site covered an area of c. 0.1 ha and is located on a hill. In Sector North, Trenches D, E, Zh 8-9, the explorations of a sector of the fortification wall continued. The wall was built in rubble masonry and was 2.40 m wide. A large quantity of sherds, including from Megarian bowls and Greek amphorae, and fragmentary building ceramics were discovered in trench D9. Debris of stones and sun-dried bricks was explored in Trench E9 and 11 bronze and one silver coins were found. Sherds from three dolia, dishes, jugs, a Greek amphora and seven small terracotta cult objects were discovered in Trench Zh9. In Sector East, Trenches I, K, L 9-11, the explorations continued. Sectors of the eastern and the southern fortification walls were explored in Trenches K-L. Sherds, including from dolia and Greek amphorae, and a large quantity of burned fragmentary wattle-and-daub were discovered. In Sector West, Trenches Zh, Z 5-6, E6, the explorations in front of the eastern outer side of the fortification tower continued. The tower was built of uneven and roughly-cut stones bonded with mud. Burned fragmentary wattle-and-daub and a large quantity of sherds were discovered. Part of the outer face of the northern fortification wall was explored in Trench E6 and fragments from roof-tiles, sherds, including from a Greek amphora, and a bronze coin were found. The site was a Thracian royal tyrsis of the second half of the 2nd – beginning of the 1st centuries BC.
