Summary (English)

  • ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF OSTRA MOGILA (Maria Kamisheva – maria.ivanowa@gmail.com) A kiln for lime production was explored close to a settlement of the Roman period. The kiln was dug out into a slope going down towards a river. Its walls were plastered with clay. The kiln had an irregular ellipsoid layout and was 2.92 m by 2.52 m in size. Its opening was vaulted, constructed of bricks. The canal was 54 cm wide and 74 cm deep and there were remains from lime and charcoal in one of its ends. The prefurnium was 2.30 m long and built of stones. Judging from the tegulae and the bricks that were found, the kiln functioned around the middle of the 3rd century AD.
