The inter-regional project “Alpeggi d’alta quota nelle Alpi Venoste“consists in the archaeological investigation of the alpine pastures of the upper Val Passeria and the identification of the types of pastoral activity undertaken there in the prehistoric period. During the survey undertaken in July and August, numerous, mainly Mesolithic sites were identified and investigated. Occasional finds of flint arrow heads, found at a height of over 2000m a.s.l. date to the Neolithic and Copper Ages. The surface survey undertaken over this large area also identified the ruins of shelters and huts for shepherds dating to the medieval and modern periods.
