Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF ORIZARE (Zhivko Uzunov – jivko_uzunov@abv.bg) The site is situated on a hill. During field surveys, sherds from dolia and imported Greek amphorae and pottery were found. Remains from burned buildings were documented during the excavations and burned fragmentary wattle-and-daub, several fragments from tegulae of the Corinthian Type, iron clamps and nails were found. The finds included terracotta spindle whorls, terracotta loom weights, an awl, two knives, a spear, four bronze coins of Mesambria: three of 350 – 300 BC and one minted after 175 – 150 BC, sherds of Thracian and imported Greek pottery, including at least nine dolia, amphorae from Kos, Rhodes and Thasos, Late Hellenistic kantharoi, lekythoi of 125 – 100 BC, imported Late Hellenistic Megarian bowls. The settlement had two occupation phases. The first phase dated to 350 – 300 BC and the second one dated to 175 – 0 BC.
