Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS IN PAVLIKENI (Kalin Chakarov – musei_pavlikeni@abv.bg) Remains from a pottery kiln of the 2nd – 3rd century AD were documented. Part of a midden pit of the second half of the 2nd – 3rd century AD was discovered, containing sherds, animal bones, fragmentary building ceramics, a terracotta lamp and an iron wedge. Two parallel walls of a building with workshops were explored, 50 – 65 cm wide and built in opus craticium. A pavement of bricks and a drain of terracotta pipes were discovered. Piles of fragmentary tiles from a collapsed roof were explored. The finds included moulds for the production of terracotta lamps, a model of a mould, a small ceramic cup which was a waste product, dupondius of Antoninus Pius and a bronze colonial coin of Caracalla minted in Thessalonica, which is terminus post quem for the destruction of the building. During the previous excavations in 2015, pottery kilns were discovered close to the building.
