Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF OSIKOVITSA (Tatyana Borisova – tatqna_borisova@abv.bg, Mihaela Zaneva) The tumulus was c. 15 m in diameter and c. 2.50 m in height. There was a votive stone cross of St. Peter and St. Paul on the top of the tumulus. Thracian sherds were found in the southwestern sector of the tumular embankment. A patch with traces from burned wooden beams was discovered and sherds and animal bones were found around it. A second patch with burned clay plaster, 60 cm by 45 cm in size, was discovered. A rectangular pile of stones, 1.80 m by 1.25 m in size, was explored in the southeastern sector of the tumulus. A spherical stone projectile and sherds were found in the embankment. An oval burned patch with charcoal, traces from burned wooden planks and sherds was discovered. Sherds and a spindle whorl were found in the northwestern sector of the tumulus. A patch with traces from burned wooden planks was also discovered. The tumulus dated to the end of the 5th – 4th century BC.
