Summary (English)
The Survey of the site started in 2014 (Februry, March and may) and we continue dit in February 2016 and this within the framework of request for exploitation of Jbal Chaouach as quarry of stone extraction by the company so called “SOUROUBAT”.
The area of the concerned part by the survey measures approximately 10 ha. Out of 57,5 ha. the total area of the archeological site of Chaouach, known as “Suas” in the Roman times.
It’s a protohistoric necropolis where we counted at least 10 “dolmen” and two “bazina” or “tumuli” clearly visible having a circular shape with a diameter reaching 5 meters each, built of large limestones quadrangular blocks. These tombs are the extension of the rest of the necropolis where there are also other protohistoric tombs dug in the rock on the south and west cliffs of Jbal Chaouach ans so known by the name “haouanet”.
