Summary (English)
During investigations undertaken in 2005, as part of the work to renovate this multilayered hill town, three stretches of wall were identified. These were built of rough hewn limestone blocks, bonded with mortar, denominated, starting from the west, sectors XXII, XXIII and XXIV. They stood on a north/west-south/east alignment perpendicular to the southern hillside.
The walls were well preserved, with the exception of sector XXII (of which only the two lower course remain) and seem to have been built with some care, especially sector XXIV, where the stones were placed in regular courses. The mortar was abundant especially in sectors XXIII and XXIV, whilst the lack of mortar in sector XXII is probably due to its being washed away.
Small fragments of tiles, especially imbrices and tegulae were found together with several amphora fragments, two amphora stoppers and an iron square sectioned bolt-head from some type of ballistic weapon. (MiBAC)
