Summary (English)
HIMITLIYATA SETTLEMENT MOUND (Krassimir Leshtakov – leshtakov@abv.bg) Two herths is Strata II and III were documented in Trench L-M5 and sherds and animal bones were found around them. The oven discovered in 2014 in Stratum III was entirely explored in Trench L8/9. A grain storage built of clay was discovered under the oven in Stratum IV. Several consecutive and partly overlapping hearths were explored in Strata III and IV in Trenches L/M6-7, М7-8 and М9-10 and fragmentary ceramic vessels were discovered. Debris of sun-dried bricks, ceramic vessels fragmented in situ, carbonized timber and carbonized einkorn, emmer, common wheat, barley, peas, vetch and lentils were found in Stratum IV. A dish with remains from barley bread was discovered as well. The finds from the excavations dated to the Early Bronze Age I and included pottery, a small terracotta model of a wheel, a terracotta figurine of a bull and a small terracotta model of a battle axe with incised decoration. There were no houses in this part of the settlement mound at the end of the Early Bronze Age I and production activities were carried out there.
