Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR VELINGRAD (Diana Gergova – dianagergova@gmail.com, Asen Salkin) The northern and eastern walls of the temenos were thoroughly explored and the southern and western walls were partly excavated. The walls were built of dry roughly-cut stones. The explorations of the building in the northwestern corner of the temenos were completed. Its walls were preserved in four – five courses in height. The debris from the fire that destroyed the building was excavated in its interior. Fragmentary wattle-and-daub with imprints from wooden posts and boards were discovered. There was an apse in the northern wall of the building. A ritual deposit was discovered there, between the stones of the lowest course of the wall, consisting of two bronze torques, which allow us to date the construction of the building to the 4th – 3rd century BC. The temenos and the tomb were built during the 4th – 3rd century BC and so far, three phases in their functioning were identified.
