Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR VELINGRAD (Diana Gergova – dianagergova@gmail.com, Asen Salkin, Sophia Hristeva) The excavations of the building in the northwestern corner of the temenos and the western surrounding wall continued. The wall was 2.10 m wide and a sector, 20 m long, was discovered. The wall of the temenos was also 2.10 m wide. Sherds from a bowl were found in the tomb. The Thracian pottery discovered in the tomb during the excavations in 2015 and 2016 included pots, krateroi, jugs, bowls, dishes, dolia, lids and stands, including pottery of the Tsepina Type, while the terminus ante quem was a silver coin of Histiaia of the 2nd century BC. The Thracian sanctuary functioned during the 4th – 2nd centuries BC.
