Summary (English)

  • The site of Cassera Lissandri XVII is situated in the comune of Farra d’Alpago at 1150m a.s.l., on the western side of the Piancasiglio. The archaeological zone was found during a survey in 1998 when flint artefacts were collected. The site is on a slight slope, which towards the east joins the plain “del consiglio”. The area can be correlated to that which extends to the north where there are other Mesolithic sites from LsI to LsIV, Casera Davià from I, II and IV. The area starts at the bottom of the west side, where a sudden change in the incline, caused by a fault, can be noted. The area is covered by colluvial deposits that give it a general uniformity and in turn covers the rocky substrata which takes the form of a covered Karst. Stone artefacts were found which indicate an intensive exploitation of flint, ranging from small blocks or cores brought to the site to elements from an advanced stage of production or in the form of pre-worked elements. The cores are flaked or show the removal of some flakes at the end of their use. No tools were found; the only retouched artefacts were several weapons (back points, a segment and a fragment of a back blade), some of which abandoned during their manufacture. The type and cut of the cores, tools and weapons suggest that the lithic group is homogeneous and belongs to the early Sauvetarian phase, defined in the Romagnano III sites of Trento, and identified at the site of Colbricon as well as in the nearby settlement of Casera Lissandri I. The chronology of this phase covers the period between 9400 to 8600 years ago. (MiBAC)
