Summary (English)
The remains of the castle stand in a position dominating the Alento river valley on top of the Ciumina hill. The choice of site was dictated by the defensive nature of the fortification.
The castle comprises a quadrangular structure with two towers. The rectangular structure was built on two levels and the outlines of two barrel vaults are visible on the western walls. The height of the impost for the vaults is also visible. Where the triangular building joins the square tower the masonry joints indicate the intention to build a closing wall to the east. Next to this area, a great quadrangular cut in the rock revealed a space on a lower level with respect to the present ground surface, which is also covered by a barrel vault.
The central zone in the south-western part also had an underground room, of which only the entrance can be seen as it is buried below natural and artificial sedimentary material. (MiBAC)
