    Chronology

    Season

      • The archaeological research took place in the archaeological site of Apulum, in the west area of the Roman town of colonia Aurelia Apulensis, near the railway. In the second half of the 19th century, the cultural layer from the Roman period was largely destroyed during the construction of the railway mound, when the terrain underwent an ample systematization. We identified two waste pits from Roman period. The archeological material consists mainly of grey coarsewares and fine pottery (terra nigra). From the point of view of the shape, we have pots, bowls, plates, amphorae, lids. Based on the archaeological inventory the complexes can be dated between the middle and early 3rd century AD.
