Chronology

Season

    • The archaeological research took place in the archaeological site of Apulum, in the central-southern area of the Roman town of colonia Aurelia Apulensis, on a street parallel to the national road. Investigation results: -0.45 m, level of modern and contemporary filling; -0.45-1.35 m, phases 1 and 2 of the Roman building erected in this area; -1.35-1.4 m, lens of cremation belonging to the wooden phase of the settlement; -1.4 m, archaeologically sterile (clayish sand). Only the level of the bed of the foundations of the building was preserved in situ, and it consisted of gravel with a thickness of about 0.65 m. In time, the area was intensely ravaged by human interventions seeking to recycle the building materials from the Roman buildings.
