Chronology

Season

    • The archaeological research took place in the archaeological site of Apulum, in the central-southern area of the Roman town of colonia Aurelia Apulensis on a street parallel to the national road. In the 1970’s the area under investigation underwent human interventions occasioned by the construction of a cellar necessary for the installation of a central heating system. Besides this situation noticed in the stratigraphy, the archaeological investigations revealed the existence of a considerable cultural layer from the Roman period. In this case too, we noticed systematic dismantling of the Roman buildings with the aim of recycling building materials. We identified a level belonging to the wooden phase of the settlement, followed by the phases 1 and 2, belonging to the stone buildings.
