Chronology

Season

    • The archaeological research took place in the archaeological site of Apulum, in the central-north area of the Roman town of colonia Aurelia Apulensis next to the actual national road. We identified the foundations of two Roman period buildings. The thickness of the walls ranges between 0.6-0.65 m. The walls were laid down on a bed of stones and gravel. The foundations were built in the opus incertum technique, consisting in binding stones with mortar. The area was greatly disturbed by human interventions with the goal of recycling building materials (bricks, stone, marble, and so on) from the Roman building.
