Chronology

Season

    • The purpose of the 2004 campaign was to excavate certain spaces, the villa rustica, a space found between the farm itself and the construction linked to different activities on the Danube. The place was chosen on an area where the archaeological materials: tile fragments, hypocaust pipes, mortar, sherds, and a large share of burned earth, had been uncovered by the furrow. The masonry of the construction uncovered consists of the same limestone as in earlier constructions. The masonry appeared at the surface was to a large extent destroyed by the furrow. It is an interesting construction, with three sides only. In the perimeter of the construction, besides coarsewares, we uncovered a few tegulae mamatae, a whole hypocaust pipe and a few fragmentary ones. Like the rest of the constructions, it dates to the 2nd - 3rd century AD.
