After a 16 year interruption, systematic researches resumed in the site of Bulci - Cetate/Mănăstire (Fortress/Monastery). The 2005 campaign focused on preparing the conditions for restarting the archaeological excavations: the whole site was cleared of the dense vegetation and the topographical survey was completed. A trench of 15 x 2 m, oriented to the east–west, was excavated in the north-west corner of the site in order to conduct a verification. Burned down wooden defense elements, placed on the earth wall, and three graves, probably dating to the 16th century, were the main structures uncovered. It is expected that the forthcoming campaigns will provide more data on the supposed Roman and Early Middle Ages complexes as well as on the Benedictine monastery.
