    • ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS OF A TUMULAR NECROPOLIS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF PET MOGILI (Georgi Atanasov, Stanimir Stoichev - s_stoichev@mail.bg, Yurii Iorgov) The tumulus belongs to a tumular necropolis. A center for pottery production and a villa from the Roman period are situated nearby. The tumulus is 2 m in height and 24 m in diameter. A deep clandestine dig was visible in the eastern half of the tumular embankment. During the explorations, it was found that the tumulus was intensively excavated by treasure-hunters and then, their digs were filled with earth. No remains from burial construction were discovered. A big settlement was situated around the tumulus. The pottery found on the surface shows that the settlement existed from the 4th century BC to the 6th century AD. During the 1960s, a cemetery of cist graves dated to the 6th – 5th centuries BC located close to the tumulus was destroyed.
